Journi is a free, optional, online learning experience that empowers Year 5 & 6 students to make better road safety choices. Featuring gamified learning activities and an engaging, graphic novel style, Journi is suitable for a variety of classroom environments.
With graphic-novel inspired animations, appealing, inclusive characters and a playful tone-of-voice, it’s designed to make road safety education fun, relatable and, most importantly, memorable.
What makes Journi different
Learning about road safety doesn’t have to be boring. Designed in consultation with Queensland teachers and educators, Journi uses storytelling and humour to communicate key road safety concepts alongside interactive games and quizzes to keep kids engaged.
Developed in collaboration with teachers, Journi is adaptable to suit different classroom dynamics, ability levels and a range of devices, with both teacher-led and student-led options available.
Content is aligned to the Years 5 and 6 Australian Curriculum V9, and has been created in consultation with road safety experts from the Australian Road Safety Foundation (ARSF).
Each of the four digital learning modules comes ready to roll with a full suite of lesson plans, teacher resources and student worksheets - making it easy to integrate into any program of study.
“From the outset it was clear that this program was designed with input from teachers. It’s really easy to use and implement and doesn’t add to my planning burden. Most importantly, my kids love it!”
“I love that Journi comes with a whole pack of resources for offline activities to complement the online experience - it makes it more flexible and I can adapt the class to suit the different learners.”
“The feedback I’ve gotten from students has been fantastic - not only are they enjoying the program, they’re retaining the information too. Journi is perfect for this age group and I’m recommending it to all my colleagues.”

Educators can choose to deliver Journi in a variety of ways. Online modules can be teacher-led via the digital whiteboard or completed individually / in small groups on student devices. Offline module lessons plans provide worksheets for students to complete, Q&As for the educator and suggested answers where relevant. It’s entirely up to you to choose the delivery method that best suits your learners and classroom set up. For more information, contact the Journi Engagement Team.
Journi is an initiative of the Queensland Government, developed and funded by the Department of Transport and Main Roads and supported for use in classrooms by the Department of Education.
